California officials certified the June 2 primary election results, with more than 9.4 million ballots cast and voter turnout reaching 40.8% of registered voters.
According to the Secretary of State’s Office, 9,446,461 Californians cast ballots in the election, representing 40.8% of the state’s registered voters.
Vote-by-mail ballots accounted for the vast majority of votes, with 8,423,060 cast by mail, while 1,023,401 voters cast ballots at voting locations.
The 2026 primary drew higher participation than the 2022 primary, when 7.3 million ballots were cast and turnout reached 33.2% of registered voters, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
