Indivisible Alameda Founder Unveils Innovative ‘Voter-Cycle’ E-Bike to Boost Voter Registration Across the Island

ALAMEDA, CA — September 13, 2026 — Community activist and founder of Indivisible Alameda, Shalom Bruhn, is officially launching the “Voter-Cycle”, a custom-designed, fully equipped electronic bicycle built entirely to streamline local voter registration. Combining clean energy technology with grassroots civic engagement, the Voter-Cycle is set to ride to various community hubs, local farmers’ markets, and neighborhood events throughout Alameda.

The launch will be on September 14th at 9:30am at the Alameda Farmers Market on Webster.

Shalom dreamed of an electric VW van that she could drive across the state to register voters. But the cost was overwhelming, so she enlisted the help of relatives, friends and volunteers who engineered the Voter-Cycle, bringing the mobile registration station to life. Built onto a heavy-duty e-bike frame, the mobile unit features integrated storage for physical registration forms, informational materials, and two secured mailboxes for completed documents. Powered by two electric batteries, the vehicle allows volunteers to easily traverse Alameda’s parks, shorelines, and business districts without the logistical hurdles of setting up tents or tables.

“Our goal has always been to lower the barrier to civic participation,” said Shalom Bruhn, founder of Indivisible Alameda and creator of the vehicle. “The Voter-Cycle allows us to be completely nimble. It meets people where they are, and brings to the community a fun and novel way to register new voters.” Equipped with QR codes for quick digital registration alongside traditional paper forms, the e-bike serves as a highly visible, conversation-starting beacon for democracy on Alameda’s streets.

The Voter-Cycle will be seen around the island in the coming weeks leading up to critical election deadlines. Local residents are encouraged to look out for the distinct red, white and blue e-bike and stop by to check their registration status, update their addresses, or register for the first time.
